Rakuto Kasei(Israel) Ltd. was established in 1990 as a joint venture with Rakuto Kasei Industrial Co. Japan, a leading worldwide producer of enzymes. Based on over 20 years of experience in the field of industrial enzymes, Rakuto's products cover a wide range of industries including the textile, leather, food, detergent and animal-feed sectors. The majority of Rakuto's products are exported to numerous countries worldwide, mainly in Europe, Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and the Americas. In the last five years, the company has registered a double-digit growth rate and has solidified its reputation as a reliable supplier of industrial enzymes.

Rakuto's industrial activity covers manufacturing, formulation and analytical testing. These operations are currently performed at the company's facilities in the Industrial Zone for Advanced Technologies in Yokneam in northern Israel.

The principal enzymes Rakuto offers include acid and neutral cellulose, alfa amylase, catalase, lipase, pectinase, protease, and more. New products and processes are being developed constantly through the application of new technologies involving genetically modified molecules and other state-of-the-art methods. Rakuto's research and development strategy is based on proprietary technology as well as on collaboration with leading research centers and universities in Israel.

Rakuto Kasei is committed to environmental and consumer safety. To this end, the company dedicates its resources to the development of natural, ecologically friendly products that conform to State anti-pollution regulations. The company is ISO-9002 certified.

Rakuto's concern for its customers' well being does not stop at the enzyme and chemical front. The company   operates two additional divisions:

The Natural Product Unit imports and markets naturally brewed soy sauce, health food products including multivitamins, liquid iron and other natural food supplements. These products are distributed across the country and overseas through trained distributors.

The Pharmaceutical Unit deals in the marketing of fine chemicals and pharmaceutical raw materials to the food and pharmaceutical industries. The unit works in close cooperation with leading multinational manufacturers of fine chemicals around the world, and has signed exclusive distribution agreements that allow it to serve major markets in Europe.

In 1998, Rakuto Kasei acquired Gramse Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a long-standing company that has been active in the Israeli marketplace since 1938. Gramse Ltd. markets finished pharmaceuticals to hospitals, healthcare management organizations (HMOs), the private sector, and is involved in product development for medical clinics.

Rakuto Kasei's philosophy is that customers exist not only as buyers, but also as partners in the company's development efforts. To encourage this sharing, Rakuto's technical support teams visit customers worldwide and listen to their needs and ideas. Special care is taken to meet the individual requirements and needs of every customer and a continuous learning process is employed to enhance and innovate the products, the production processes and the technologies. We believe that careful selection of suppliers, combined with close collaboration with our customers, will enable us to contribute to a better world and to greater individual well being. Recently, a new start–up company was established, Rakuto Bio Technologies Ltd., as part of a joint venture between Rakuto Kasei Ltd. and the incubator program under the aegis of the Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Industry and Trade. The new company specializes in the development of a new enzyme technology for the production of special enzymes for the cosmetics and textile industries.
